A security guard sustained severe injuries following an alleged assault by a passenger during a ticket inspection on a train. The incident occurred on a regional train operated by Deutsche Bahn in Germany, traveling from Offenburg to Karlsruhe. The altercation began when the 26-year-old guard engaged in a physical confrontation with a 36-year-old passenger who fell from the train, suffering critical head injuries. The dispute initiated after the passenger, reportedly intoxicated, was requested to present his ticket, leading to a verbal argument that escalated into a physical fight. The guard was pushed against a door with such force that part of the entrance steps broke off. Despite safety protocols triggered by open doors, an emergency stop did not occur. The suspect was apprehended on the train, and an investigation is currently underway. The injured guard was discovered near the railway tracks, approximately 1.25 miles away from where the train eventually halted. This incident mirrors a previous case in western Germany where a train conductor died following an attack by a fare evader. The perpetrator in this case was sentenced to 10 years in prison for manslaughter.
