Police in London have disclosed the identities and photos of two young men they wish to interview in connection with a murder investigation. The inquiry was initiated following the fatal stabbing of Elijah Seriki, 23, near Mossbourne Community Academy in Hackney, east London, on July 13. The individuals sought for questioning are Cavalli Harriott, 22, and Jayqwan Stevens-Burke, 23.
Harriott is a resident of Hackney, while Stevens-Burke is known to frequent both Hackney and Grays, Essex. Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams, heading the investigation, emphasized the ongoing efforts to unravel the events surrounding the incident and urged the public to aid in locating Harriott and Stevens-Burke.
The incident took place around 1.40 pm on Monday, resulting in the death of Mr. Seriki despite immediate medical attention. The investigation remains active with no arrests made yet. Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, urged anyone with information to come forward promptly.
Mayor of Hackney, Zoë Garbett, expressed shock and sorrow over the tragic event and assured support for affected residents. The community is encouraged to cooperate with authorities for a swift resolution.
