Virgin Media has recently dropped the price of its fastest broadband package to an all-time low. The company has launched an unexpected sale offering a reduction of over £70 on its high-speed Gig1 Fibre Broadband.
The Gig1 package boasts speeds of up to 1,130Mbps and typically costs £29.99 per month. However, it is currently available for just £26.99, resulting in a saving of £72 over the 24-month contract, which translates to around 87p per day.
Virgin claims that this discounted rate is the cheapest ever offered for the Gig1 plan. With these speeds, users can download a feature-length HD movie in under 30 seconds and have a 50GB PS5 game ready to play in less than seven minutes.
While households with 70Mbps speeds may require over 90 minutes to download the same game, Virgin’s Gig1 plan ensures smooth streaming, online gaming, and swift downloads.
It is important to note that the £26.99 monthly rate will increase twice during the contract term, rising to £30.99 from April 2027 and £34.99 from April 2028. Additionally, the 1,130Mbps speeds may not be available to all UK households, so potential customers should verify availability using Virgin’s postcode checker.
Virgin Media has slashed the price of its Gig1 Fibre Broadband to £26.99 per month, marking the lowest price ever for this plan and saving customers £72 over two years.
When compared to competitors like Sky, Virgin’s £26.99 Gig1 deal stands out as a cost-effective option. Despite Sky reducing its comparable 900Mbps plan to £28, Virgin’s offering remains cheaper and faster.
Other providers, such as BT, charge £37.99 for access to a 900Mbps connection. It is advisable to explore alternative network providers, as some emerging providers offer competitive pricing compared to established brands.
Community Fibre, for example, provides 1Gbps speeds for £25 per month with the first three months free and fixed prices for the contract duration. However, this service is limited to London and specific south-east locations.
Considering individual needs is crucial before committing to a broadband plan. For light usage like streaming, a speed of around 100Mbps may suffice, while larger households with multiple users working from home and engaging in high-bandwidth activities may require speeds of at least 300Mbps.
Opting for Virgin’s 1Gbps fibre broadband is akin to having a high-speed highway directly into your home, ensuring seamless connectivity for various online activities.
