A tragic incident occurred as a young man lost his life after entering Balderton Lake in Nottinghamshire. Authorities responded to a call at around 2:30 pm on Thursday regarding the man in the water at New Balderton near Newark.
Emergency services, including police, fire personnel, and paramedics, rushed to the scene and rescued a 19-year-old who had been at the lake with friends. Despite receiving treatment on-site, the teenager was later taken to the hospital where he succumbed to the situation.
Nottinghamshire Police confirmed the unfortunate death of the young man in an update on Saturday. Chief Inspector Clive Collings expressed condolences to the family and the community, emphasizing the hazards of open waters, particularly during warm weather due to unpredictable underwater conditions.
Group manager Charlotte Weatherall-Smith from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service also extended sympathies to the family and friends, highlighting the dangers of cold water shock even on sunny days.
