A court was told about a disturbing incident where a mother discovered that a man who was dating her 17-year-old daughter and spending time at their home with her baby was a registered sex offender. The man, Blake Moorhouse, 21, had previously received a three-year community order for engaging in sexual activity with a 14-year-old in March 2026. Despite claiming remorse for his past actions and agreeing to follow court-imposed conditions, Moorhouse was found to be violating restrictions on contacting individuals under 18.
According to information presented at Preston Crown Court, Moorhouse, residing in Blackpool, had established an online relationship with the teenager and had made visits to her and her infant. Despite the girl’s assertion that their relationship was not sexual, Moorhouse had stayed in her bedroom where the baby also slept on multiple occasions.
Following an incident on March 6, Moorhouse was issued a sexual harm prevention order that placed further limitations on his interactions with children. He misled his new girlfriend and her mother by falsely claiming that his impending court appearance was related to an assault, concealing his status as a registered sex offender.
Subsequently, Moorhouse received a call from MOSOVO, the unit responsible for managing sexual and violent offenders, prompting the girl to investigate his background online. Upon realizing the truth, she asked Moorhouse to leave, and the authorities were notified. Moorhouse surrendered himself upon learning that the police were looking for him.
Moorhouse, from Thornton-Cleveleys, admitted to violating six charges of breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order and notification requirements. Judge Robert Altham expressed regret for not imposing a custodial sentence earlier, given Moorhouse’s repeated offenses and deception. Consequently, Moorhouse was sentenced to two years and four months for his initial crimes against a 14-year-old, with an additional six months for breaching court orders. The judge emphasized the necessity of immediate custody due to Moorhouse’s failure to comply and the danger he poses to children.
