A major law enforcement operation known as Operation Red Card, designed to safeguard England fans attending the upcoming World Cup in Texas, has been hailed as a remarkable success. Authorities have confiscated nearly 300 illegal firearms and significant quantities of narcotics from various locations near the venue where England will play their first match next month.
Law enforcement officials have reported the arrest of over 1,300 individuals in connection with the operation ahead of the England versus Croatia game in Dallas on June 18. US Attorney Ryan Raybould of the Northern District of Texas labeled the apprehended individuals as “some of the worst of the worst,” emphasizing the operation’s focus on enhancing security measures for the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
The successful outcome of the operation was highlighted by the seizure of 800 kilos of methamphetamine, 50 kilos of cocaine, 20 kilos of fentanyl, 280 firearms, and £4 million in cash. Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux commended the collaborative efforts between local and federal agencies in removing dangerous substances and weapons from the streets.
Expressing confidence in the safety measures put in place, Comeaux issued a stern warning to potential offenders, stating, “Come to North Texas and commit a crime if you dare.” With a substantial influx of Three Lions supporters expected in the Dallas area, law enforcement agencies are prepared to ensure a secure environment for the matches being held at the stadium in Arlington.
Acknowledging the significance of joint operations, federal authorities emphasized the importance of maintaining public safety in Dallas. The coordinated efforts have led to the apprehension of numerous individuals with outstanding felony warrants, reinforcing the commitment to enforcing the law and safeguarding the community.
Officials also addressed the critical issues of illegal immigration and drug trafficking, emphasizing the interconnected nature of these challenges and the need for continued vigilance. FBI Special Agent Joseph Rothrock highlighted the extensive security planning undertaken for the World Cup, underscoring the unique scale and complexity of the tournament being hosted across multiple countries.
As preparations intensify for the upcoming sporting event, authorities are leveraging past experiences and strategic insights to ensure a safe and secure environment for participants and spectators.
