A well-established British clothing manufacturer has gone into liquidation after operating for over four decades, resulting in the loss of jobs for all remaining employees. North East Rig Out (Aberdeen) Limited, a Scottish clothing company based in Aberdeen, specialized in producing workwear, school uniforms, and customized protective clothing for various industries such as oil and gas, engineering, construction, transport, and retail. The closure of the firm has left eight workers unemployed.
The insolvency experts MHA have been appointed as the liquidator after a decision to wind up the company voluntarily. Official documents filed under the Insolvency Act 1986 revealed that a meeting held on April 15 determined the company’s inability to sustain its operations due to significant liabilities.
The company’s demise has been attributed to the ongoing challenges faced by Scotland’s energy sector, which have imposed financial pressures on businesses in the North-east region. According to Michael Reid from MHA, the company struggled amidst the prolonged downturn in the energy sector, impacting numerous businesses in the area.
Following the liquidation, the firm’s assets were auctioned off, and the premises were handed back to the landlord. Known as NERO, the company prided itself as the sole direct workwear manufacturer in the Aberdeen vicinity, boasting over 40 years of expertise in creating high-quality workwear garments.
Specializing in both standard and tailor-made clothing, including bespoke Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and coveralls customized for industrial clients, the company emphasized its commitment to providing unique and durable workwear solutions. Additionally, North East Rig Out offered services such as embroidery, heatseal branding, and laser logo services for corporate clients, schools, and sports clubs.
Their product range catered to various sectors, including oil and gas, construction, automotive, aviation, shipping, military, and public sector organizations. The company’s focus on design, functionality, durability, and comfort set them apart in the workwear manufacturing industry.
