“Daisy Chain Fields Raises $20M at Charity Festival”

Over the weekend, a significant number of music enthusiasts gathered at Great Park in Irvine, California, to enjoy performances by popular artists at a historic charity event supporting women’s health, reproductive rights, and the fight against gender-based violence.

Dubbed Daisy Chain Fields, this charity festival was organized by pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo, reminiscent of the groundbreaking Lilith Fair from the 1990s, featuring an all-female lineup. The festival showcased a mix of emerging and established stars, including queer pop artist Chappell Roan, rapper Doechii, and iconic acts like Bikini Kill and Garbage.

Before the festival commenced, Rodrigo revealed that they had raised $10 million for the event’s 10 non-profit partners, such as Planned Parenthood and the National Institute for Reproductive Health. This amount was later matched by Melinda French Gates, bringing the total raised to $20 million.

Rodrigo initially announced the festival in June, emphasizing that all proceeds would go to organizations supporting women and girls. The event saw special appearances by music legends like Stevie Nicks and Alanis Morissette, who performed together, updating lyrics to reflect inclusivity.

The festival’s name, “Daisy Chain,” symbolizes unity and strength in coming together. Amid ongoing challenges to reproductive rights in the U.S., this event aimed to raise awareness and support for these critical issues.

Beyond the music, attendees could engage with various art installations, including a LEGO mural and exhibits tracing the Riot Grrrl movement. The festival atmosphere was described as positive and inclusive, with participants expressing solidarity and enthusiasm for the cause.

Amidst a divisive climate for women’s rights, the success of Daisy Chain Fields highlighted the power of community and collective action. Non-profit partners expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and unity displayed at the event, emphasizing the resilience and strength of their movement.

The festival left a lasting impact on attendees, artists, and organizers, showcasing the unwavering commitment to advancing gender equality and supporting vital causes. Daisy Chain Fields stood as a beacon of hope and solidarity in challenging times.
