Alanis Morissette has initiated legal action against her former tour manager, accusing her of engaging in a premeditated blackmail scheme to falsely implicate the singer in drug trafficking unless Morissette agreed to an extended contract. Morissette filed a lawsuit in California, alleging that Keren Urinov threatened to report her to British authorities for drug-related offenses unless Morissette hired her as a tour director for 15 years and provided significant compensation.
Urinov, who previously worked with Live Nation in Israel, was hired as a temporary tour manager for Morissette’s global tour in 2025. During a trip from the U.K. to Spain, Urinov was reportedly arrested by British Border Force officials after a bag in her possession was flagged for containing marijuana and xylazine, an animal tranquilizer. Urinov was released after presenting her Israeli medical marijuana license.
Following the tour, Urinov allegedly sent multiple extortionate letters to Morissette, demanding a long-term contract with lucrative financial terms and threatening legal action in the U.K. if Morissette did not comply with her demands. The lawsuit also highlights instances where Urinov’s management during the tour was deemed inadequate, including substantial financial losses due to a hotel booking error and undisclosed criminal history involving drug smuggling in Latin America.
Morissette, feeling compelled to take legal action, emphasized her refusal to work with an incompetent and blackmailing individual for an extended period. The singer is adamant about holding Urinov accountable for her actions and has requested a trial by jury. Attempts to reach out to Urinov and Morissette’s representatives for comments have not been successful.
