An 11-year-old boy was hospitalized after being stabbed in Blackburn, with another 11-year-old taken into custody for the incident.
Emergency responders, including an air ambulance, rushed to the Fishmoor Drive area of Blackburn, Lancashire, following reports of a stabbing just before 7pm on Monday. The victim sustained a “puncture wound to his back” and was promptly transported to the hospital, as per LancsLive.
The 11-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of assault and has been released on bail pending further investigations. Authorities confirmed that the victim’s injury, initially deemed serious, was not life-threatening.
A Lancashire Constabulary spokesperson stated, “Police were alerted to a stabbing in the Fishmoor Drive area of Blackburn shortly before 7pm on Monday, June 22nd. Officers intervened, and the 11-year-old victim was hospitalized with a single puncture wound to his back.”
The spokesperson added, “Fortunately, the injury is less severe than initially feared and does not pose a life-threatening risk. Another 11-year-old boy was taken into custody on suspicion of assault and has been bailed for additional inquiries.”
