Tesco Security Guard Dies Choking on Doughnut

A security guard at Tesco, Mohamed Nassar, tragically passed away after choking on a doughnut while on duty at the Manchester Bailey Tesco Express store in Salford. Nassar, 57, was eating the doughnut to take medication when he choked and collapsed, leading to a distressing scene for colleagues and customers.

Despite efforts to resuscitate him and being rushed to the hospital, Nassar suffered severe brain damage due to his heart stopping for 23 minutes. His family shared their devastation over his loss, highlighting the emotional toll of his 44-day fight for survival before being taken off life support in June.

Originally from London, Nassar and his family had relocated to Ardwick in Manchester in 2020. His son, Seif Abdelwaneis, described the shock and overwhelming support received by the family during Nassar’s hospitalization. The family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and prayers and mentioned their ongoing struggle with financial challenges following the tragedy.

A fundraiser organized by the family aims to cover funeral expenses and provide financial support for Nassar’s family. Described as a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandad, Nassar was remembered for his kindness, generosity, and ability to bring people together.

The store manager, Osarugue Onaghise, extended condolences on behalf of the Manchester Bailey Express Tesco store team. The community has rallied support for Nassar’s family during this difficult time, showcasing the impact of his presence and the love he shared with those around him.
