“US Launches Strikes on Iran Amid Rising Tensions”

The United States has initiated a new series of strikes on Iran, commencing early this morning. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on social media that their military forces had launched fresh attacks starting at 6 am. These strikes were aimed at diminishing Iranian military capabilities used in assaults on cargo vessels navigating through the Strait of Hormuz.

CENTCOM stated, “At 6 a.m. ET today, U.S. Central Command forces began launching a wave of strikes against Iran. The strikes are designed to further degrade military capabilities Iranian forces have used to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.”

In response to Tehran’s aggression against ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, the US reinstated a naval blockade on Iran and intensified its airstrike campaign today. Iranian officials reported that the American strikes targeted an Iranian military facility, resulting in the deaths of at least seven soldiers and injuries to over 260 individuals across Iran.

Last month, the US had lifted the blockade on Iran after initially imposing it in April. A temporary agreement between Iran and the US had paused hostilities and allowed a 60-day window for negotiations concerning issues such as Iran’s nuclear program. However, progress in the talks has halted as tensions over the Strait of Hormuz have escalated.
