A 79-year-old British cruise passenger passed away on Tuesday after being discovered unconscious on the ship’s deck. The incident occurred while the cruise ship was docked in Chania, located on the northwest coast of Crete.
Despite immediate medical attention, the man was declared dead. He was initially found unconscious on the ship’s deck in the morning, as announced by the Hellenic Coast Guard.
Following the discovery, he was promptly transferred to the ship’s medical clinic for initial treatment before being transported via ambulance to a private medical facility in Chania. An investigation has been initiated to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
Chania Port Authority has ordered a post-mortem examination as part of the ongoing investigation into the incident. According to reports from ERT News, the British passenger was sighted by fellow passengers aboard the ship.
