Donald Trump is said to be extremely upset by the small turnout at his Great American State Fair, according to a recent report. The event, organized to commemorate America’s 250th birthday, has been ongoing for weeks on the National Mall. However, the underwhelming attendance has raised concerns among White House officials about the potential sparse crowds for Trump’s upcoming Fourth of July speech.
The fair, managed by Freedom 250, a partnership initiated by Trump, was arranged despite Congress already establishing a bipartisan commission to oversee America’s birthday festivities. Following the withdrawal of several musical acts from the opening performance on June 24, Trump took the spotlight and delivered a 30-minute impromptu speech to the audience, as advertised performers had pulled out due to their association with the divisive leader.
Addressing a crowd mostly composed of administration officials and Trump supporters adorned in MAGA-branded attire, Trump highlighted his achievements in office and emphasized that America was now “back” and “respected by everybody.” Reports indicated that Trump, unaware of the small crowd size, became furious upon seeing an aerial photo showing vast empty spaces behind the initial rows of attendees, prompting the removal of the image from social media posts by White House officials.
Despite Trump’s claims on Truth Social that the event was attended by “at least 45,000 people,” NBC News estimates contradicted this figure, stating that the actual turnout was significantly lower. An unnamed source close to the White House criticized the lack of effort in driving attendance, attributing the low turnout to a flawed “if you build it, they will come” mindset.
Concerns have been raised by sources close to the president about the potential for a similar situation at Trump’s July 4 celebration on the National Mall. The event, touted by Trump as an unprecedented birthday extravaganza, is scheduled to feature a “TRUMP RALLY” address, alongside fireworks, flyovers, and military band performances. Unlike previous years, attendees are prohibited from bringing coolers due to expected high temperatures, raising worries that many may avoid attending or leave early.
Questions have been raised within the White House about the late timing of the event, with one official expressing confusion over the decision-making process. To ensure a substantial crowd, the viewing area closest to the stage will be ticketed, although tickets will be free, potentially leading to reserved spots being left unfilled.
White House spokesman Davis Ingle emphasized Trump’s commitment to providing America with a remarkable 250th birthday celebration, orchestrated by Freedom 250 in line with the president’s vision for patriotism and national pride. The Mirror has reached out to the White House for comment.
