“Cuban President Stands Firm Against US Threats”

Cuba’s President, Miguel Díaz-Canel, has reaffirmed the nation’s stance against US threats, expressing readiness to defend themselves in the face of escalating tensions. The Cuban leader emphasized their preparedness for any potential conflict following provocative remarks from the US President, Donald Trump.

The situation escalated after Trump’s actions in Venezuela, which led to an energy blockade affecting Cuba, causing widespread blackouts, food shortages, and economic instability on the island. Despite the challenges, Díaz-Canel asserted Cuba’s determination to uphold its rights, independence, and sovereignty, stating they would not shy away from defending themselves at any cost.

In an interview with Sky, Díaz-Canel clarified that while Cuba does not seek war, they are not intimidated by the prospect and are actively gearing up to ensure they are not caught off guard. He criticized the Trump administration’s rhetoric as a deliberate attempt to intimidate and destabilize Cuba, emphasizing that Cuba is a peaceful nation that poses no threat to others and is committed to maintaining its sovereignty and independence.

The Cuban government has condemned the US’s tightening grip on the island’s economy, attributing widespread suffering among ordinary citizens to the punitive measures imposed. While US officials like Marco Rubio have blamed Cuba’s socialist policies for the economic woes, they have not ruled out military intervention, citing concerns over Cuba’s relationships with China and Russia.

Rubio highlighted Cuba’s alleged national security threat to the US, advocating for a change in leadership or mindset within Cuba for any chance of reform. The ongoing tensions underscore the complex geopolitical dynamics between the two nations, with Cuba standing firm in the face of external pressures.
