“Traveler Rescued After 5 Hours Stuck in Cliff Crevice”

A traveler in China faced a challenging situation when she became stuck in a crevice on a cliff for five hours. Ren Mou found herself pressed into the crevice on the Jiaozi Cliff in Shanxi Province after falling 180 feet down. She had been enjoying the sunrise at the site before falling over a 330-foot-high ledge due to wet conditions and poor visibility, causing her to slip and become trapped.

Fortunately, a man at the base of the cliff heard her cries for help and alerted authorities in the early hours of Thursday, July 2. Drones, equipped with infrared imaging, were used to locate her exact position. Rescue teams secured ropes to nearby trees and descended to reach her as the cliff lacked suitable anchor points.

After enduring five hours in the crevice, Ren was successfully rescued. She was disoriented, physically exhausted, and suffered multiple non-life-threatening injuries. Currently, she is hospitalized and receiving medical care. The Captain of the Shanxi Blue Sky Rescue Team mentioned that this was the first time in his 16 years of service encountering such a scenario.

Visitors are advised to avoid lingering near cliff edges at night and slippery areas, as well as to pay attention to safety warnings. In a separate incident, another tourist fell 130 feet off a cliff at Huaying Mountain in Guang’an, China.
