An 18-month-old infant tragically passed away in France during the recent heatwave after supposedly being inadvertently left in a car by a caretaker en route to work.
The young child was discovered unconscious inside the parked vehicle at the university medical campus in Marseille on Tuesday. Responders swiftly transported the child to La Timone Hospital due to severe heat exposure, but unfortunately, they did not survive.
According to reports from BFM Marseille Provence, it is suspected that the parent unintentionally left the toddler in the car while heading to work at the campus.
This heartbreaking incident occurs amidst France grappling with a severe heatwave, causing temperatures to exceed normal levels in various parts of the country. The scorching weather, with temperatures ranging between 32C and 38C in many regions of France and western Europe, is anticipated to persist until the week’s end, as per AccuWeather.
Wednesday marked a historical record in France for the highest temperature ever recorded, reaching 43.8C in Palluau, surpassing the previous national record, as reported by the national weather agency Météo-France.
