A 16-year-old girl tragically lost her life following a collision with a car, resulting in the arrest of a 19-year-old individual.
The incident occurred in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, where the girl was reportedly struck by a silver Ford Fiesta on Friday, June 12. Despite immediate medical attention by paramedics and quick transportation to the hospital, the girl succumbed to her injuries shortly after.
Law enforcement took a 19-year-old man into custody on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. However, he has been released on police bail pending further investigation.
The fatal crash happened at around 10:40 pm on Lobley Hill Road, near the junction with Schoolhouse Lane, as confirmed by Northumbria Police. The family of the deceased has been notified and is receiving support from the authorities.
