Police are in pursuit of an individual connected to a shooting incident three months ago and are advising the public against approaching him, as they consider him to be ‘armed and dangerous’. This development coincides with the arrest of another person in connection with the tragic death of a police officer during a raid in Toronto, Canada.
Zara Jabbi, aged 19, is wanted in connection with a shooting at the US Consulate that occurred in March. Authorities have issued a warning that he is potentially armed and poses a danger. Law enforcement officers emphasized the importance of not engaging with him if spotted and urged the public to contact 911 immediately. A photo of the 19-year-old has been circulated to aid in his apprehension.
As Toronto readies to host its first FIFA World Cup match, with fans from around the world flocking to cities across Canada, Mexico, and the US, Jabbi remains at large. The city’s inaugural World Cup fixture is scheduled for Friday, June 12, featuring Canada against Bosnia and Herzegovina at Toronto Stadium.
In the wake of the tragic loss of Constable Marc Pinizzotto, officers have expressed appreciation for the support from the public. Constable Pinizzotto lost his life while on duty on June 11.
The fatal shooting occurred during the execution of a high-risk search warrant as part of a coordinated operation involving five simultaneous warrants. A suspect was also injured by police gunfire during the operation and is currently hospitalized. Nicholas Bennett, a 19-year-old from Toronto, faces a First Degree Murder charge in relation to the death of Constable Pinizzotto.
Authorities have confirmed that Jabbi continues to elude capture, specifically in connection to the March incident at the US Consulate. Police acknowledged the public’s inquiries and mentioned that due to the ongoing investigation, there are restrictions on the information that can be shared at this time. Updates will be provided as soon as possible, according to law enforcement officials.
