A seaside hotel in south Devon, which had been closed for an extensive renovation and was set to reopen, has reportedly entered administration. The official public record publication, The Gazette, revealed that administrators were appointed on June 5. Richard J Smith & Co’s joint administrators, Jonathan David Trembath and Samuel Adam Bailey, are overseeing the process from their Ivybridge office in Devon.
The Quayside Hotel, located in Brixham overlooking the harbor, shut down in late 2022 for upgrades to its rooms, dining areas, and other facilities. Despite plans to relaunch last year, signaling a new era for the historic venue, the hotel never resumed operations and is now under administration, as per BusinessLive. The property, which also included a bar and restaurant, had described itself on its website as offering picturesque views of Brixham harbor, centrally located near the town’s attractions and beaches.
The Express reported that the hotel, known for its 4.3-star rating on Google, is highly regarded by guests. Reviews highlighted the comfortable rooms with harbor views, friendly staff, and exceptional food quality. Visitors praised the hotel’s unique charm, excellent services, and expressed intentions to return in the future.
