Father Facing Terminal Diagnosis Struggles to Create Lasting Memories

A man, experiencing fatherhood for the first time, has been deeply saddened by the news that he may not witness his daughter’s growth due to a terminal prognosis given by doctors.

Craig Dunn, a 35-year-old from South Shields, had recently undergone surgery to remove a brain tumor and was looking forward to marrying his fiancée and relishing fatherhood with his three-year-old daughter, Serena. However, a routine scan in May revealed the devastating return of the tumor, now spreading to his spine, with a prognosis of up to a year to live.

Expressing his emotional turmoil, Craig described the news as incredibly challenging, especially considering the unexpected nature of the diagnosis. He had initially overcome Medulloblastoma, a rare brain tumor, through surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy in May 2025, but the recent recurrence caught him off guard, despite showing no symptoms.

Determined to make the most of his remaining time, Craig has rescheduled his wedding and plans to cherish every moment with his daughter. He emphasized the heartache of knowing his daughter may not remember him, prompting him to create a ‘dear dad’s’ diary and capture memories through videos and birthday cards.

To support Craig and his family during this difficult time, a GoFundMe page has been set up, which has already garnered significant donations within a short period. Craig is also seeking information on clinical treatments for Medulloblastoma in adults to extend his time for his daughter, highlighting the rarity of this cancer in adults and the limited treatment options available.

For those interested in contributing or learning more, the GoFundMe page is accessible for donations.
