A man from Britain, identified as Salis Hanrahan, was fatally shot by a Vietnam War veteran in an incident linked to an alleged group involved in fraudulent activities. Hanrahan, aged 20 and of Irish traveller descent, was working on the residence of George Barr, 75, in Philadelphia when the shooting occurred. Despite managing to flee the house after being shot in the chest, Hanrahan collapsed on the street and succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Reports suggest that Hanrahan, believed to be working in the U.S. without authorization, was associated with a group known as “The Traveling Conman Fraud Group,” described as a criminal gang by the FBI. This organization, composed of British and Irish individuals, reportedly engages in scamming people by overcharging for construction work that remains incomplete. Authorities have not disclosed details on Hanrahan’s ties to organized crime or whether Barr was specifically targeted.
The tragic incident left Hanrahan’s wife, Roseann, mourning his loss, sharing a photo of them together on social media with a heartfelt message. Police investigations revealed that contractors were present outside Barr’s home when gunshots were fired from inside the residence. Barr, subsequently charged with murder and other offenses, is a retired firefighter, a Vietnam veteran, and known for overseeing a neighborhood watch program.
The Department of Homeland Security confirmed that Hanrahan entered the U.S. illegally and was associated with the fraudulent group, leading to his denial of travel authorization. The ongoing investigation aims to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the shooting and any further connections between the individuals involved.
