A tragic incident occurred in Bradford city center where a male pedestrian lost his life, and two others, including a child, sustained injuries after a car veered onto the sidewalk and struck them. The collision involving a blue Nissan Qashqai took place on Market Street on a Sunday afternoon, prompting emergency services to respond at approximately 3.22pm.
The car, which allegedly moved away from traffic lights, hit a 31-year-old man, causing severe head injuries. Additionally, it collided with a 50-year-old man in a wheelchair in the pedestrianized zone. Despite immediate treatment by emergency responders, the 50-year-old victim was declared dead at the scene. The 31-year-old is currently hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, while a 13-year-old boy suffered minor injuries in the same incident.
Following the tragic event, a 30-year-old Bradford resident was apprehended on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and other traffic violations. He was subsequently released on police bail pending further investigations.
