“US Task Force Considers Bid for 2038 World Cup”

The US is well-equipped to host a 64-team World Cup and could potentially consider bidding for the 2038 tournament, as stated by the head of the current competition’s American task force. Currently, the US is co-hosting the tournament with Canada and Mexico. With hosting responsibilities set for Europe, Africa, and South America in 2030 and Saudi Arabia in 2034, a new North American bid in 2038 seems plausible.

Andrew Giuliani, the executive director of the White House Task Force on the World Cup, expressed that while it is premature to commit to another bid, he believes the US has all the necessary resources to host the event again in the near future. Discussions with President Trump and cabinet secretaries have highlighted the favorable position of the US to host a World Cup. Giuliani emphasized the welcoming nature of the US and its robust infrastructure, including existing stadiums that reduce the financial burden compared to other host nations.

Regarding the potential expansion to a 64-team format, Giuliani expressed confidence in the US’s capability to manage such a scale. While acknowledging the importance of focusing on the current World Cup, he expressed personal excitement at the prospect of witnessing the event return to the US in the coming decades.

Despite concerns raised by human rights groups regarding the impact of immigration policies on supporters, the atmosphere in host cities has been largely positive. Giuliani expressed satisfaction with the initial weeks of the tournament, noting the global affection towards the US during its 250th anniversary.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino confirmed the anticipated attendance of President Donald Trump at the final in New Jersey on July 19. Although Trump has not appeared at any matches yet, Giuliani hinted at the possibility of surprises, alluding to Trump’s penchant for suspense.
