Newly released video footage depicts the killer of Henry Nowak informing the police that he was bleeding before they discovered he had been fatally stabbed after eight minutes. The footage captures Vickrum Digwa falsely accusing Henry, 18, of racially motivated aggression in Southampton. In the police bodycam video, Sikh murderer Digwa, 23, alleges that the teen sustained his bloody wounds from a “punch” or falling while climbing on bins.
According to Digwa, Henry, who was reportedly intoxicated, attacked him, including pulling off his turban. Interestingly, Digwa was not restrained when apprehended for attempted murder, unlike Henry who was handcuffed by the same officers shortly before.
Subsequently, Digwa was sentenced to 23 years in prison for murder and possession of an offensive weapon at Southampton Crown Court, leading to protests in the city. The fatal incident occurred in December of the previous year as Henry was returning from a university night out.
In the recently unveiled footage, Digwa’s father, Moga Singh, can be heard telling the police that his son had been assaulted by Henry. Digwa claimed that Henry had pulled his turban off and grabbed his hair, leading to a physical altercation.
When questioned about Henry’s injuries, Digwa claimed they occurred during a scuffle, despite the truth being he fatally stabbed Henry. Upon his arrest, Digwa protested, questioning why he was being detained for attempted murder.
During the trial, it was revealed that Digwa had lied extensively, fabricating stories to conceal his actions. The prosecution emphasized that Digwa’s claims of racism were false and part of a strategy to justify his actions. Furthermore, Digwa was exposed as a weapons enthusiast with an array of weapons at his family residence.
The arrest of Henry sparked violent demonstrations in Southampton, with several individuals facing charges of disorder. Hampshire Constabulary is currently under investigation by the IOPC regarding the arrest.
