A US military aircraft issued an emergency signal with code 7700 and is believed to have conducted an emergency landing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), according to data from a flight tracking system.
The use of “Squawk 7700” serves as an internationally acknowledged transponder code that pilots utilize to signal an emergency situation during flight, prompting immediate attention from air traffic controllers.
Reports suggest that the aircraft was involved in operations near southern Iran when it potentially encountered fire from Iranian forces. Subsequently, the plane landed at Al Dhafra Air Base in the UAE.
American military planes reportedly carried out multiple airstrikes in Iran on Thursday night, targeting locations such as Bandar Abbas International Airport, Iranshahr Airport, and civilian infrastructures. Iran’s state television noted that areas in Bandar Abbas were impacted by American actions. Social media discussions from the Middle East indicate that the US has been targeting civilian infrastructure, including bridges and roads, in addition to military sites.
Confirming the ongoing strikes, US Central Command stated that they initiated a new round of attacks against Iran for the sixth consecutive night to diminish Iranian military capabilities. President Trump has been exerting pressure on Iran to comply with the terms outlined in an agreement and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
