“Turkey Trip Reveals Boyfriend’s Secret as Sex Offender”

A woman was shocked to discover that her boyfriend, Daniel Greaves, a 34-year-old warehouse driver from Grimsby, was a registered sex offender during a trip to Turkey. Greaves had concealed his previous conviction for engaging in sexual communications with a child, which led to a two-year community order and registration on the Sex Offenders Register in December 2024. Moreover, he breached the Sexual Harm Prevention Order twice in January and February of the current year.

During a holiday to Turkey, Greaves and his girlfriend faced difficulties at the border control, prompting her to learn about his criminal history and alert the authorities. This revelation stemmed from Greaves communicating with minors online, where he solicited inappropriate activities and failed to disclose his past to his probation officer.

Greaves’ defense lawyer highlighted his remorse and the absence of harm during outings with children. However, the judge emphasized the seriousness of Greaves’ actions, leading to a 10-month jail sentence due to the gravity of breaching the Sexual Harm Prevention Order designed to safeguard minors from potential harm. The judge stressed the importance of adhering to such preventive measures to protect children from individuals with previous criminal behavior.
