A residence in Lower Saxony, Germany, was struck by a plane, resulting in one fatality, a man, with his identity as the pilot yet to be confirmed by authorities. Search efforts are underway for another individual believed to have been onboard, as stated by a police spokesperson to NDR Lower Saxony.
Concerns have been raised about the potential structural instability of the building, although no additional injuries have been reported. Thankfully, the occupants of the house were not present during the incident. Air traffic in the vicinity has been halted, and power has been disconnected on the affected street to facilitate emergency operations, including the use of drones.
A support center has been established at the nearby Ganderkesee shooting range for affected residents. The aircraft involved is a single-engine, four-seater light plane manufactured by Tecnam, an Italian company, measuring around 7.5m in length with a wingspan of 10.5m.
Reports suggest that a crane will be utilized by emergency services to remove the aircraft, a process expected to take several hours. Additionally, a structural engineer from the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) is scheduled to evaluate the building. Multiple fire crews are on-site, although the cause of the incident remains unknown.
