A tragic incident occurred last week as a passenger from Royal Caribbean passed away while snorkeling in the Caribbean. The individual, who has not been publicly identified, was a traveler on the Star of the Seas cruise ship, the only vessel at the port on that particular day.
According to The Peoples’ Tribune, the guest disembarked the ship with family members to participate in a snorkeling excursion in the beautiful blue waters of St. Maarten. Sadly, a medical emergency arose during the activity, leading to the individual being swiftly returned to Port St. Maarten for medical assistance. Despite efforts, the guest was declared deceased upon reaching the shore.
Following the unfortunate event, the family opted to have the deceased passenger’s body placed in the ship’s morgue instead of arranging for transportation back home. Details regarding the specific nature of the medical emergency and whether the snorkeling tour was booked through the cruise line or an external vendor remain undisclosed at this time.
