“Miraculous Rescue: Boys Saved from Venezuela Quake Tragedy”

In Venezuela, two boys have been rescued from the wreckage of collapsed buildings, providing a glimmer of hope amidst the tragic aftermath of a devastating earthquake that has claimed 1,430 lives.

Video footage captured the heartwarming moment when two 11-year-olds, Moises and another unnamed boy, were pulled out from the debris of their homes, bringing relief to the rescuers. Moises, shielding his eyes from the sun, emerged four days after the country was struck by powerful earthquakes.

Interim President Delcy Rodríquez later announced the miraculous rescue of the second 11-year-old boy in Caraballeda, as shown in a video circulating on social media. The death toll from the consecutive 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude quakes has reached 1,430, with nearly 68,900 people missing and widespread destruction in towns and villages.

The earthquakes, with epicenters 85 miles west of Caracas, caused extensive damage despite the distance from the capital. Rescuers, determined to find survivors, have been tirelessly searching through the rubble, facing challenges from aftershocks that continue to unsettle residents.

Efforts to assist in the rescue operation have been hindered by logistical issues, including the damage to the Simon Bolivar International Airport in Caracas. British crisis-response volunteers from Serve On are eager to deploy their specialized equipment to aid in the search for buried victims as soon as travel arrangements allow.

Despite the delays and challenges, international assistance has been mobilized, with various search and rescue teams, including those equipped with innovative technology, converging on the affected areas to support the ongoing efforts. The collaborative response includes a diverse range of expertise aimed at maximizing the chances of saving lives and providing relief to the affected communities.
