A tragic incident occurred as a crew member of the Regal Princess cruise ship fell overboard near Cancun. The ship had embarked on a week-long journey from Fort Lauderdale’s Port Everglades and the individual went missing on Monday morning while the vessel was off the coast of Mexico.
Following the alert from Princess Cruises, a search and rescue operation was initiated. Despite efforts to locate the crew member, it was confirmed that the person had passed away. Passengers were informed of the situation while the ship was en route to Cozumel, Mexico.
Passenger David Jimenez shared that the ship conducted an extensive search, aided by another cruise ship and Mexican maritime authorities. Despite hours of searching, the unfortunate outcome was confirmed by the cruise line.
Passengers were regularly updated during the search and counseling services were made available. Princess Cruises expressed condolences to the crew member’s family and friends and offered support services to those affected by the incident.
