“Hospital Worker Allegedly Attempts Newborn Abduction”

In a shocking incident, a hospital worker in Brazil, who falsely claimed to be pregnant, allegedly made an attempt to abduct a newborn baby from a maternity hospital. The employee, identified as Auricelia de Sousa Rocha, a nursing technician on medical leave, managed to gain access to the ward wearing scrubs. CCTV footage from the Evangelina Rosa Maternity Hospital captured Rocha walking with the infant.

The baby’s aunt, Daniela Beatriz, reported that Rocha approached the new mother shortly after delivery, insisting that the baby needed a heel prick test. Beatriz recounted how Rocha led her to another floor under the pretense of the test while the mother remained in her room. Subsequently, Rocha changed clothes, placed the baby in a bag, and attempted to leave the hospital with the infant.

Surveillance footage depicted a woman in scrubs carrying a black bag and holding the baby wrapped in a red blanket. The video then showed another woman in a black dress confronting Rocha, grabbing the bag, and preventing her from leaving the premises.

When questioned by CNN Brazil, the aunt shared that Rocha claimed to be a hospital employee and denied any wrongdoing. Police discovered a room in Rocha’s home equipped with baby essentials, indicating her elaborate deception of pretending to be pregnant without any medical evidence.

Rocha’s defense attorney cited her diagnosis of schizophrenic symptoms, suggesting her impaired understanding of the situation. However, authorities maintained that mental health issues would not absolve her of the attempted kidnapping.
