“Teen Confesses to Pushing Ex-Girlfriend Off Balcony”

A 16-year-old teenager in Italy has confessed to pushing his 13-year-old ex-girlfriend off a seventh-floor balcony, admitting to the crime after previously lying about the incident for months. The boy, who was 15 at the time of the tragic event in Piacenza, Italy, confessed to murdering Aurora Tila during a video link from a juvenile prison as he appealed a 17-year prison sentence.

In his confession, the teenager apologized for the killing and acknowledged the delay in admitting to his actions, having initially falsely claimed that Aurora had taken her own life. Aurora’s mother’s lawyer, Emilio Malaspina, expressed closure with the confession and hoped for the court to uphold the appropriate penalty established in the initial sentencing.

The appeal hearing has been postponed until September. Initially, the teenager had maintained that Aurora had committed suicide by falling from the building in October 2024. However, detectives found inconsistencies between his account and the evidence gathered.

Prosecutors revealed that Aurora and the boy had been in a relationship that ended due to the boy’s possessive behavior. Messages uncovered by investigators showed Aurora expressing feeling persecuted by her ex-boyfriend, describing him as a stalker, and seeking advice on how to handle the situation.

An eyewitness reported seeing Aurora clinging to the balcony railing while the boy struck her hands, leading to her fall. During the trial, a former cellmate testified that the teenager had confessed to pushing Aurora. The court convicted him of murder, citing aggravating factors such as stalking, the victim’s age, and the prior relationship between the two.

Following the recent confession, Aurora’s older sister, Viktoria, publicly refuted claims that Aurora had taken her own life, stating that Aurora had feared her ex-boyfriend. The appeal proceedings are set to resume on September 10 pending a report on the teenager’s behavior.
