“Tragedy in France: Young Boys Die in Hot Car”

Two young boys tragically lost their lives in a car during the exceptionally hot weather in France. The children, identified as Kassim Benouali, aged four, and his two-year-old brother Sadek, experienced cardiac arrests while confined in a car where temperatures potentially soared to 70 degrees Celsius.

The boys were discovered unresponsive in the vehicle by their mother, Wafa El Boubkari, upon their return from a swimming outing and a trip to the supermarket in Bois de l’Ubac, Carpentras. Initially, prosecutors indicated that the children had locked themselves in the car without their mother’s knowledge. However, later reports revealed conflicting statements from the mother to the authorities, leading to a manslaughter investigation.

It was disclosed that the mother revised her statement, claiming the children had entered the car unbeknownst to her, locked themselves inside, and became trapped without her awareness. The incident, where temperatures inside the car may have soared to dangerous levels without air conditioning, has deeply shocked the nation.

Living with her mother after separating from her husband, Ms. Boubkari, who has two other children under 10, faced immense grief following the heartbreaking event. The boys’ grandmother, Fatiha, described it as a “huge tragedy,” recounting their family outing before the unfortunate accident.

Emergency services were summoned when the boys were found in a critical condition in the car, but despite resuscitation efforts, they could not be saved. A postmortem examination revealed the cause of death as dehydration due to extreme heat exposure. The two boys were laid to rest in a funeral ceremony at Carpentras Mosque.

Ms. Boubkari, who endured shock, was hospitalized, while colleagues described her as a diligent and kind-hearted woman coping with various challenges. Expressing sympathy, they emphasized her dedication as a mother and the unimaginable pain she must be enduring.
