A man who had been stalking Barbara Broccoli, the producer of James Bond movies, for ten years has been given an indefinite hospital order after she claimed he coerced her into selling her family residence.
Daniel Wilson, aged 37, unlawfully entered Ms. Broccoli’s home in 2016, causing her significant distress leading to the sale of her 20-year residence, as described in Southwark Crown Court.
The court revealed that Wilson breached a restraining order by sending threatening Valentine’s Day voicemails stating, “I’ve got murder on my mind,” and by sharing Ms. Broccoli’s contact information online along with abusive posts.
In addition, he violated the order by posting inappropriate content featuring Ms. Broccoli’s details and a derogatory message on social media. Judge Christopher Hehir noted these actions as he sentenced Wilson.
Wilson pleaded guilty to stalking activities causing distress between April 2022 and February 2025, as well as two counts of breaching the no-contact order initially issued in 2017.
Furthermore, Wilson, a resident of Lambeth, south London, admitted to affray and criminal damage for vandalizing car and hospital windows with a hammer in December 2023 at Inner London Crown Court.
He was given an indefinite Section 37 hospital order concurrently with a Section 41 restriction for each offense, and the judge also ordered the confiscation of the hammer used in the 2023 incident.
The court learned that Wilson had a past connection with Ms. Broccoli’s son from attending the same sixth form college, leading to an unhealthy fixation on her that culminated in criminal behavior.
Despite the court’s decision, Wilson continued to express delusional beliefs about Ms. Broccoli, prompting the judge to terminate the video link during the proceedings.
Prosecutor Arabella MacDonald described Wilson’s relentless and disturbing stalking campaign, involving numerous messages across various platforms, including threats and inappropriate content.
Medical experts testified about Wilson’s psychiatric condition, citing potential risks to the public due to his history of violence and harassment, exacerbated by substance abuse.
Wilson was previously prohibited from contacting Ms. Broccoli under a restraining order issued in 2017, and he faces multiple charges related to breaching the order and engaging in criminal behavior.
