A man previously convicted of sexual assault on the London Underground was arrested by British Transport Police (BTP) after making violent threats during a phone call. Mansoor Ahmed, 31, who had served a two-year prison sentence for the assaults, called the BTP First Contact Centre on May 27 to express anger over his crimes being publicized. He threatened BTP staff with violence and made disturbing remarks about attacking officers and using acid on them. Ahmed was swiftly located and apprehended by detectives on May 29, leading to his emotional breakdown during a subsequent police interview where he lamented the publicity of his crimes. Following his arrest, Ahmed was held in custody before being sentenced to six months in jail at Inner London Crown Court. BTP Detective Constable Lee Smith condemned Ahmed’s behavior, emphasizing the importance of swift action to prevent harm to officers and the public and reaffirming a zero-tolerance stance against such threats within the BTP community.
