A significant search and rescue operation is currently in progress following the disappearance of a 15-year-old boy while swimming at a nature reserve in Hampshire. The incident took place at Testwood Lakes near Totton, with emergency services mobilized since approximately 1:45 pm. Various agencies, including the National Police Air Service, South Central Ambulance Service, and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire Service, are actively involved in the search efforts.
The disappearance occurred amidst the breaking of the June heat record, with temperatures reaching 36.1C in Gosport, Hampshire. Hampshire Police have issued a warning advising the public to steer clear of the area.
A police spokesperson stated, “A collaborative operation is currently underway following a report of a 15-year-old boy missing after he was last spotted swimming at Testwood Lakes near Totton. The area is restricted as our search operation continues. Kindly avoid the vicinity at this time.”
