“Man Guilty of Stabbing Wife 78 Times for Money”

A man, Robert Alexander, has been found guilty of murdering his wife, Christina Alexander, by stabbing her 78 times at their residence in Dosthill, Tamworth in June 2025. The court revealed that the 66-year-old was driven by financial motives when he committed the brutal act.

Christina Alexander, aged 60, suffered extensive stab wounds to various parts of her body, resulting in severe injuries. During the trial at Stafford Crown Court, it was disclosed that Robert Alexander had a history of being abusive and threatening towards his wife, although he tried to argue in court that he acted in self-defense.

Following the murder, Alexander changed his clothes, disposed of evidence, and then calmly informed the authorities that he had killed his wife, mentioning issues related to money and control. Prosecution counsel Rebecca Wade KC stated that Alexander showed no remorse and even referred to his wife using derogatory terms.

The court heard that Mrs. Alexander, fearing for her safety, had taken steps to leave the abusive relationship, including seeking legal advice and making plans to live independently. Tragically, she met her demise on June 23, 2025, after multiple incidents of domestic violence and manipulation by her husband.

The Crown Prosecution Service highlighted that Alexander’s actions were fueled by a desire for control over his wife and finances, rather than any mental health disorder. Despite Alexander’s attempts to justify his actions as self-defense and diminished responsibility, expert testimony and evidence contradicted his claims.

The case underscores the escalating dangers of controlling and abusive behavior within relationships. The sentencing for Alexander is pending, as the legal process moves forward to bring some form of justice for the victim and her grieving family.
