The Red Arrows and America’s Blue Angels showcased a thrilling joint performance in the skies over the United States. The RAF aerobatic team flew in formation with the US Air Force’s Blue Angels above Boston, Massachusetts, and later participated in a multi-formation flyby in Brunswick, Maine on Friday, the 10th of July.
This aerial display is part of the Red Arrows’ extensive tour of the US, spanning late June to July, with scheduled appearances in Wisconsin, Maine, Maryland, and Michigan to commemorate 250 years of American independence. The RAF aerobatic team has a busy 2026 program with displays planned across the UK and internationally.
The Red Arrows traveled to the US for Operation Eagle Hawk, a series of displays and flybys across several states, including New York, Wisconsin, Maine, Maryland, and Michigan. This visit was part of the UK Armed Forces’ contributions to anniversary celebrations, alongside other military elements.
Air Vice-Marshal Mark Jackson, Air Officer Commanding No. 1 Group, expressed gratitude for the invitation to participate in special Fourth of July events, emphasizing the longstanding cooperation between the UK and US armed forces. The Red Arrows’ iconic red, white, and blue smoke left a striking trail over New York during the Fourth of July celebrations.
The journey to the US was meticulously planned, with the Red Arrows making multiple stops in Stornoway, Iceland, Greenland, and Canada to refuel their Hawk T1 jets due to limited flying range. The support of two A400M Atlas transport aircraft, a P-8 Poseidon, and an Envoy IV CC1 aircraft was crucial for the team’s successful transatlantic crossing.
Besides their aerial displays, the Red Arrows engaged in various ground events during their US visit, connecting with local communities, aviation enthusiasts, and aspiring STEM professionals. This tour serves as a platform to showcase British excellence and strengthen the UK’s relationship with its closest security partner.
Following their US visit, the Red Arrows are set to return to Britain and continue their busy 2026 display season across Europe. Their upcoming schedule includes appearances at prestigious airshows and events, highlighting the team’s commitment to inspiring audiences both in the UK and internationally.
