Nigel Farage’s Fine Dining Habits Draw Criticism

Nigel Farage was photographed leaving an upscale private members club this week, marking his third visit in just a month. While the leader of Reform UK enjoyed his time at the exclusive venue, Members of Parliament were engaged in discussions regarding the energy and vehicles taxation bill. In a previous instance, Farage criticized Keir Starmer for his decision to increase electricity generator taxes, referring to it as a “lunatic green levy.”

During the bill’s second reading in the Commons, Farage was dining at Harry’s Bar, where he had attended a Jewish charity lunch. The club, located in London’s Mayfair, charges £3,750 annually for membership along with a £1,850 joining fee. Known for its elegance, Harry’s Bar offers a top Italian dining experience with luxurious dishes like steak tartare, thinly-sliced veal, and tomato salad.

Farage’s absence from the taxation bill debate was noted by Labour’s Richard Burgon, who criticized him for not attending a Westminster Hall debate on MPs holding second jobs. Burgon highlighted Farage’s earnings from a second job promoting a gold dealer, totaling around £2 million since the General Election.

Before his visit to Harry’s Bar, Farage was present at Prime Minister’s Questions and later joined Reform MP Lee Anderson in the Commons. This was not the first time Farage chose fine dining over important political issues. Previously, he was seen at a Brexit anniversary celebration at a high-end French restaurant while MPs discussed defense spending.

Farage’s actions have drawn criticism from various political figures, including Shadow defense minister Mark Francois, who expressed disappointment in Reform UK members for their lack of participation in defense debates. Previously, Farage faced backlash for his comments on discrimination by UK police following a tragic incident.

Reform UK was contacted for a statement regarding these events.
