A manhunt is underway following the abduction of a newborn from a hospital ward. The infant, a seven-day-old baby boy, was taken from the neonatal unit of a hospital in Germany. Authorities report that the baby was snatched from the Lüdenscheid hospital in North Rhine-Westphalia by an individual who posed as a nurse.
The suspect, described as a woman in her mid-20s to early 30s with blonde hair, was seen wearing a light blue coat and large glasses. She entered a patient’s room at the hospital at 3:15 pm and took the baby under the guise of conducting an examination.
The child was discovered approximately an hour later at 4:10 pm, found naked in the stairwell of a nearby parking garage next to a ticket machine. An ambulance promptly returned the baby to the hospital, where he is reported to be in good condition.
The parking garage, known as the Sterncenter, is an eight-minute drive from the hospital. Following the baby’s recovery, a significant police operation was initiated to locate the woman responsible. Authorities are puzzled by the motive behind the abduction, as family members of the child stated they did not recognize the impersonating nurse.
Law enforcement has launched a search for the suspect, utilizing CCTV footage and a sniffer dog in their investigation. Descriptions provided by the police detail the woman as blonde, very slim, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, with her hair styled in a braid.
