A young boy is recuperating at home following an attack by a stray cow while he was playing in the street. The alarming incident occurred on Friday, June 19, and was captured on video. The distressing footage shows the cow chasing the child, knocking him down, and repeatedly jabbing at him with its horns, causing the boy to scream in fear.
Fortunately, nearby residents heard the boy’s cries and rushed to his aid. One man grabbed a slider that had been knocked off the boy’s feet and used it to try to scare the cow away. With the help of others, he picked up the child and ran as the cow, accompanied by another cow, pursued them down the narrow lane.
During the escape, the rescuer fell but shielded the boy with his own body as the cow attempted to attack again. Another man stepped in and successfully drove the animals away from the scene.
The incident took place in the Tughlakabad area of New Delhi, India, on June 19. Officials later apprehended both cows and relocated them to a goshala, a shelter for stray cows, in Delhi’s Rewla Khanpur neighborhood.
An official source informed local media that the child sustained injuries but is now in the process of recovery. Authorities have noted a concerning rise in the population of stray cattle, partly due to numerous illegal dairies in the region. They have promised to take action against both the illicit businesses and cattle owners who allow their animals to roam freely on public roads.
