A father who had been reported missing was tragically discovered deceased in a vehicle in Oldham. The search for Christopher Neary, aged 58, commenced last Thursday following his last sighting by a neighbor. He left his residence on Lees New Road in Oldham around 6:55 pm, driving his silver Ford Focus, as indicated by his family.
Authorities were alerted on Monday night about a vehicle that had veered off Lees New Road, near Abbey Hills Road. Greater Manchester Police confirmed the discovery of a deceased man inside the vehicle, later identified as the missing father, Mr. Neary.
Pictures from the scene revealed a breach in the hedgerow beside the road after the car descended down an embankment. The exact time and circumstances of the collision remain unknown, with investigations by the Serious Collision Investigation Unit ongoing. Individuals possessing CCTV or dashcam footage from the area between 6:50 pm on May 28 and June 1 are encouraged to reach out to the authorities.
In a statement, GMP expressed condolences to Neary’s family and emphasized the ongoing investigation to determine the sequence of events leading to the tragedy. Detective Inspector Clare Harrison from GMP’s Oldham district urged anyone with relevant information to come forward, emphasizing the importance of even the smallest detail in aiding the investigation.
