“Manhunt Underway for Fugitive Convicted in Infant Daughter’s Death”

A man, identified as Emmanuel Sakyi, is evading law enforcement following his conviction for causing the death of his infant daughter in a drunk-driving incident. The tragic event occurred in December 2022 on Bletcham Way in Milton Keynes, where Sakyi, aged 31, allegedly fled the crash scene after colliding with another vehicle while driving on the wrong side of the road.

Sakyi’s seven-month-old daughter, Emmanuela, who was seated on her mother’s lap in the front passenger seat, sustained severe injuries in the collision and tragically passed away in the hospital. Despite being charged with causing death by dangerous driving, Sakyi did not attend his trial at Aylesbury Crown Court and was sentenced in absentia to 15 years in prison following a unanimous jury decision.

During the trial, it was revealed that Sakyi was driving under the influence of alcohol, exceeding the legal limit by twice the prescribed amount and displaying reckless driving behavior that fell significantly below acceptable standards. Witnesses testified that Sakyi drove his vehicle for a considerable distance on the opposing lane, resulting in the fatal collision with another car.

The court heard that Sakyi failed to properly secure his daughter in a car seat or provide adequate restraint, allowing her to sit on her mother’s lap with only a seatbelt across her stomach, a practice deemed unsafe and inappropriate. Despite warnings from another driver attempting to avoid the collision, Sakyi continued driving and ultimately crashed into the oncoming vehicle.

Following the incident, Sakyi fled the scene and was subsequently apprehended by law enforcement outside his residence. Currently, Thames Valley Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the fugitive, described as a black male of medium build, approximately 5ft 3inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes.

Detective Sergeant Ed Crofts emphasized the seriousness of the case, urging anyone with information on Sakyi’s whereabouts to contact the authorities immediately. Sakyi, who hails from Milton Keynes, was found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving and sentenced to 15 years in prison, along with an 18-year driving ban.
