A 47-year-old woman, Stella Gollovena, faced charges in court for allegedly stabbing four men in London’s Covent Garden with a pair of scissors. The incident involved victims Patrick De Barr, Thomas Harding, Adrian Lovett, and Mantas Jankus. Gollovena is accused of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.
During a hearing at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court, Gollovena, who has no fixed address, was confronted with the five criminal charges for the first time. Police were alerted on Endell Street, a bustling area with bars and theaters, where one of the injured men sought help around 12:25 pm. The injured parties provided statements to the authorities, detailing the events that led to their hospitalization for backstab wounds.
Responding swiftly, the police apprehended Gollovena, who was reportedly carrying a pair of scissors at the time of her arrest. Deputy Chief Magistrate Tan Ikram ordered her to remain in custody until her next appearance at Snaresbrook Crown Court on September 3. Gollovena confirmed her identity but did not enter any pleas to the charges.
After the stabbings, an air ambulance landed in Trafalgar Square, and the London Ambulance Service transported the four injured individuals to a major trauma center for urgent treatment. Fortunately, the men, aged 34, 39, 42, and 56, were discharged from the hospital as their injuries were not life-threatening or life-altering.
