A grandmother, Marie Stibbe, from Tiverton, Devon, is seeking treatment in India after doctors allegedly neglected her deteriorating health. Initially diagnosed with ovarian cancer, later revised to hepatocellular carcinoma, she faced delays in treatment despite her condition worsening. Her daughter, Rachael, criticized the healthcare system’s handling of the situation.
Amid concerns over delayed treatment, the family sought a second opinion from a liver specialist who recommended a comprehensive assessment and potential treatment options. Disappointed by the care received in the UK, the Stibbe family decided to explore treatment abroad, opting for the Medanta Institute of Liver Transplantation and Regenerative Medicine in Gurugram, India, known for its expertise in liver-related procedures.
To fund Marie’s treatment abroad, the family initiated a GoFundMe campaign, aiming to cover expenses related to travel, accommodation, and medical costs. The campaign has garnered substantial support but is still short of its target amount.
