The father of a slain teenager expressed profound sorrow as his son’s murderer was seen bragging about the crime in a rap video shot within a prison cell. Jay Stewart, aged 19, was recently given a life sentence for fatally stabbing 16-year-old Kayden Moy on a beach in North Ayrshire, Scotland in May 2025.
In the video lasting two minutes, recorded at HMP Polmont, Stewart is depicted wearing a t-shirt over his face while rapping about the murder and issuing threats of further violence upon his release. He is heard saying, “I caught the wee c**t and I taught him a lesson.”
Following the release of the video, Paul, Kayden’s father, expressed devastation over the leaked footage showing Stewart, the convicted murderer of his son, singing and seemingly boasting about the killing. Paul emphasized the profound impact of such callous behavior on the family, highlighting Stewart’s lack of remorse and disrespect. The video, captured on a mobile phone by an inmate, includes references to the murder of “KM” or “Kayden,” with Stewart indicating a violent plan for the future.
Stewart, along with Cole Turley, 18, received minimum prison sentences of 16 years for the murder, while a 15-year-old boy was sentenced to a minimum of 14 years. The fatal stabbing of Kayden occurred on Irvine beach on May 17, following a confrontation where the assailants pursued Kayden and fatally stabbed him after he slipped and fell.
During the sentencing of the three teenagers, Judge Lord Scott described Kayden’s death as senseless and avoidable. Authorities from the Scottish Prison Service acknowledged the distress caused by such offensive videos and reiterated their commitment to maintaining secure prisons by preventing illegal items like mobile phones from entering prison facilities.
