“Family Shocked to Find Mystery Ashes in Amazon Urn”

After the funeral of a family member, it is common for grieving individuals to preserve their ashes in an urn at home as a way to feel their presence nearby. When Dorothy Kuspis passed away at the age of 98, her granddaughter, Ashleigh Wegner, decided to follow this tradition. Ashleigh, along with her mother and uncles, selected an urn for their beloved “Nanny” and purchased a heart-shaped keepsake urn from Amazon.

Upon receiving the urn, Ashleigh noticed that it appeared to have been stored for some time as it was slightly dusty. However, upon closer inspection, she was shocked to discover that the urn still contained remains from a previous use, despite being sold as new.

Feeling disturbed and uncomfortable, Ashleigh immediately contacted Amazon and the third-party seller regarding the issue. She emphasized that she did not want the urn to be resold to another unsuspecting customer in the future.

Amazon promptly responded, assuring Ashleigh of a refund, although she has yet to hear from the third-party seller. In the meantime, she received a replacement urn, where the remains of her grandmother were safely transferred, with a small portion set aside for family members.

Reflecting on the situation, Ashleigh shared that while the incident was unexpected, she was grateful for the resolution. Interestingly, this was not Ashleigh’s first encounter with unexpected ashes, recounting a previous incident where she and her husband found a box of ashes in their neighborhood.

After reporting the matter to local authorities, Ashleigh and her husband decided to scatter those ashes in the Arizona mountains. Similarly, they plan to handle the mystery ashes found in the urn to prevent any future mishaps, ensuring they do not end up in the possession of unsuspecting individuals.

Despite reaching out to Amazon for comment on the matter, the company has not provided a response at this time.
