Deputy Heroically Rescues Woman from Fatal Alligator Attack

A deputy in Florida was captured on bodycam footage making a frantic effort to rescue a woman who was fatally attacked by an alligator. The incident took place at the Econlockhatchee River in Little Big Econ State Forest, approximately 25 miles northeast of Orlando. The victim, identified as 31-year-old Brittany Clark, was swimming with her boyfriend and a friend when the attack occurred.

The chilling video, released by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, shows the deputy rushing through a wooded area to reach the riverbank where the injured woman was lying under a tent. The deputy is seen applying a tourniquet to her wounds before the footage concludes. Clark’s boyfriend, Chance Allison, described the severity of her injuries in a 911 call, stating that both her arms were dislocated, with one completely severed.

Amidst screams and pleas for help, Allison struggled to free Clark from the alligator’s grip, highlighting the urgency of the situation due to severe blood loss. Another woman at the scene confirmed the extent of the injuries, emphasizing the severity of the situation. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesperson Chad Weber explained that the attack occurred in shallow water, and there was no malicious intent involved.

Authorities euthanized two alligators, measuring 12 and 13 feet, that were captured in the river for further investigation. Clark’s boyfriend expressed his grief over the tragic loss, describing her as a remarkable and compassionate individual. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission disclosed that fatal alligator attacks in the state are rare, with an average of eight unprovoked bites each year and a total of 26 fatalities since 1948.
