Cocaine Found in Glasgow Academy Student’s Bag

Cocaine was discovered in the schoolbag of a five-year-old student attending a prestigious private school in Glasgow.

The Glasgow Academy staff found the class-A drug and promptly informed the authorities, including the police and social services.

Established in 1845, this independent school accommodates nearly 1,700 students aged three to 18, with annual fees ranging from £12,495 to £17,040 based on the student’s year level.

Although the incident occurred several weeks ago, details are only now surfacing, as reported by the Scottish Daily Mail.

An insider revealed, “The school community has been deeply shaken by this event, with a primary focus on the child’s well-being. The potential consequences of the child coming into contact with the substance are alarming.”

The school’s primary campus is situated in Kelvinbridge, with additional locations in Milngavie and Newlands, serving nursery, kindergarten, and prep one to four students.

According to the Scottish Health Survey, the usage of cocaine among adults in affluent areas has doubled in the past two years, escalating from 2% in 2021 to 4% in 2023.

In response to inquiries, a spokesperson for Glasgow Academy stated, “We do not discuss individual child-related matters publicly. Any concerns raised are promptly addressed in collaboration with families and relevant authorities to ensure the safety of all children under our care.”

Miles Briggs, the Scottish Conservative health spokesperson, commented, “This distressing incident underscores Scotland’s ongoing battle with drug-related issues.”

The Mirror has reached out to Police Scotland for their official statement.
